Leading Trucking into a Green Future

TCI is moving forward to lessen our carbon footprint and continue the path to a greener future in trucking. With the help of REP Solar, we have installed Solar PV Systems in three of our ten locations – and counting. This will lead to a decrease in the cost of annual energy bills, as these panels are the equivalent of 38,004 gallons of gas per year, 45 cars off the road per year, planting 275 trees, and powering 62 homes per year.

New Additions to our Fleet

TCI is excited to announce that we have made a significant investment in ordering 20 Tesla Electric Semi trucks. This investment goes hand in hand with our commitment to sustainability and we are looking forward to continuing this trend with Tesla and their fully electric trucks.

Environmentally Friendly

As a company, we wish to have a positive impact on our planet, the air we breathe, and the future of our communities. Sustainability is more than alternative fuel and other design changes, but rather an approach to doing business with an eye for the coming decades instead of quarters. We have had successful deployments of solar technology, LED lighting technology, electrification, and using Renewable Natural Gas, Renewable Diesel, and other lower carbon approaches to transportation, too.

TCI EV Green Power Truck

GreenPower EV Star Cab and Chassis Class-4 Vehicles

With the support of California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), TCI acquired four GreenPower EV Star Cab and Chassis Class-4 vehicles, which can travel up to 150 miles before recharging, while transporting 6,000 pounds of cargo. These units first hit the market in 2020 and represent the first commercial class-4 battery vehicle available in the United States. With these promising capabilities, these units are an excellent addition to TCI’s fleet and green initiative goals.

New EV Dealerships

TCI is proud to have been awarded HVIP grants and will soon be expanding our dealerships across the country in partnership with GreenPower Motor Company and Phoenix Motorcars. Our new EV dealerships will provide industry-leading vehicles that can be as affordable as their traditional fossil-fueled counterparts, enabling our customers to deploy advanced technologies that are cleaner, quieter, and in line with state regulations. California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) plays a crucial role in the deployment of zero-emission and near-zero-emission technologies, providing point-of-sale vouchers to make these amazing vehicles quicker to attain and easier to afford. Embracing Technology

We have seen firsthand a remarkable improvement in southern California air quality over the past decades. We are constantly evaluating and testing cutting-edge technology that makes business sense for our customers and the general public. Historically, our industry has been slow to adopt technology that improves the environment, but at TCI, we’re committed to spearheading the exploration of advances in engine, truck and trailer design changes along with tire and pneumatic improvements, and even in our buildings.

TCI Culture: Environmentally Friendly
GreenShop Certified Logo

TCI is a NationaLease GreenShop-certified environment, meaning we’ve invested time and energy into developing environmentally safe and friendly practices and procedures that help the environment flourish. We strive towards more efficient practices each and every day. Those include improving waste management, guiding employee protocols, and influencing community safety standards. And we remain in tight compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.

But we’re also taking larger, more lasting steps towards creating a more environmentally friendly and efficient company:

  • Multiple Solar PV systems have been installed at various locations, totaling approximately 1 Mw, which will lead to a decrease in the overall consumption of resources.
  • We have ordered 20 Tesla Electric Semi trucks.
  • We are working together with local utility companies to build the infrastructure necessary to power all our EV commercial vehicles.
  • We have purchased over 50 CNG-powered class 8 tractors operating in California, along with hybrid class 5 trucks.
  • Many of our trucks and trailers are equipped with liftgates powered by roof-mounted solar panels.

These kinds of investments go hand in hand with our commitment to sustainability, and we look forward to continuing in our efforts to lead the trucking industry into a green future.

Ahead of the Curve
