As President of TCI, Ryan Flynn is equal parts strategy and execution, spearheading Finance, Operations, HR, and Recruiting, as well as helping steer TCI’s Dedicated Sales and Brokerage divisions.

With a degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and over 20 years of experience within the trucking industry, Ryan has mastered the arts of Dedicated Transportation Systems, Freight Brokerage, Operations Management, Freight Transportation, and Enterprise Software. His hands-on approach to doing business is what his team, customers, partners, and suppliers all appreciate most.

Ryan’s first job at TCI was picking up trash along the perimeter of the Commerce property. Since then, he became committed to understanding the entire scope of the business, working in the shop, rental department, and sales department, as a driver, and even moonlighting as a night dispatcher and branch manager. Through the breadth of these roles, his understanding of the company’s strengths and weaknesses internally is unmatched.

Ryan is currently a Board Member at American Trucking and Transportation Insurance Company, Truckload Carriers Association Benchmarking Group, and a former Board Member of the Arizona Trucking Association. He is a Trustee for the Aquarium of the Pacific, and an active member of NationaLease, the American Trucking Association, California Trucking Association, Truck Leasing and Renting Association, and Truckload Carriers Association.

Ryan lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife, daughter, and 2 sons. He is family-focused, occasionally spontaneous, and is everywhere his kids are.

Andrew Flynn, Co-President, TCI Transportation

Andrew Flynn

Andrew Flynn joined TCI Transportation as a rental agent immediately after graduating from Regis University and has been here ever since. Over the past 25+ years, he has occupied a number of different roles within the company, each with a wide variety of responsibilities from sales to operations and was eventually named Co-President in 2012.

Having helped steer the company for many years, Andrew has been a critical partner in its evolution. TCI has since grown from a 10M business to one that is now well over 250M, and under his stewardship continues to grow. Along with the addition of multiple new locations across the country, Andrew also helped spearhead new service offerings and mergers including brokerage, intermodal, and global logistics.

He currently sits on the Board of Directors at NationaLease and is heavily involved with local charities. In his personal time, you can find him playing in the great outdoors, be it tennis, golf, biking, hiking, skiing, or any of a variety of water sports.

Cara Swank, Chief Financial Officer, TCI Transportation

A St. Louis native and graduate from the University of Missouri Columbia with a BA in Accountancy, Cara Swank has always had her head in finance and her feet planted firmly in business strategy. Since her early days as a Senior Associate at Coopers & Lybrand, Cara has been passionate about cost management, the power of metrics, and engaging leadership to ensure businesses operate at their fullest potential.

Throughout her career, she has provided oversight for all aspects of Finance, Accounting, Supplier/Inventory Management, Customer and Sales Force Support Team, and IT function, delivering comprehensive and actionable financial and operational reporting to drive aggressive and profitable growth.

As Chief Financial Officer for TCI, Cara is focused on and dedicated to collaborating with her team to create meaningful and deliberate long-range strategies while developing the tactical plans that need to be executed to achieve those strategies.

Married for over 30 years with her 3 children grown and pursuing their own passions, Cara spends her time away from TCI outdoors, listening to live music, hiking, traveling, and island hopping in Abaco, Bahamas whenever she can.

John Sappington served twelve years as an Aviation Officer (Captain) in the United States Army and carried out multiple duties including Company Commander, Air Assault Pilot, Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical warfare officer, and Master Fitness Trainer to note a few. These duties and experience not only helped hone John’s leadership skills, but also fine-tuned his commitment to honor, service, character, and duty to his country.

For over 30 years since, he has built a reputation among his peers as a steadfast and trusted leader who’s helped to stimulate record growth for some of the nation’s largest companies in transportation, logistics, full-service truck leasing, and renewable energy.

Today, and for the past eight years, John has led TCI’s sales and marketing efforts and new service offerings across all divisions of the company. Due to creative strategies and focus, TCI has rapidly expanded its footprint in the transportation industry and is now coast to coast with revenues exceeding $250 million.

John spends his time away from TCI with his wife of over 30 years, 2 sons, and lifelong friends, enjoying all kinds of sports and being active. He is a strong believer in family, faith, and country.

As Chief Operating Officer for TCI, Raj Dalton is reinventing our clients’ logistics businesses one truck at a time by deploying large-scale supply chain projects in unprecedented, condensed timeframes to a diverse range of organizations.

Prior to joining TCI, Raj made significant contributions to both Fortune 100 companies and start-ups nationwide. With over two decades of hands-on experience in the transportation and supply chain industries, he has driven top quality and on-time execution of logistic services companies representing over $200 million in new business.

From managing supply chain teams through a culture of camaraderie, personal development, coaching, and psychological safety, to advancing supply chain models to new levels through technology tools and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost reduction, Raj has found success in balancing a tailored solution with profit, compliance, and technology.

Today Raj lives in Commerce California with his wife daughter and son and spends his time away from work travelling to islands in the Pacific, watching a Marvel movie, or hiking in the Hawaii islands.
