Since 1978, TCI Transportation has been dedicated to serving our clients in the only way we know how – with integrity, passion, and ingenuity. We’ve spent the past 4 decades expanding our locations from coast to coast and have been aggressively adding new services for our clients to help them grow their businesses as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our story has a long history, and yet we have only just begun.

Company Founding

Transportation Commodities, Inc. (TCI) is founded by Gerry Flynn as a full-service equipment leasing and rental company in Commerce, California. The business started the year with 3 Yard Goats and ended with 29 trucks in total.

1978

Off and Running

TCI signs its first major lease account, Hasa, a leading producer and distributor of high-quality water treatments and vessels. And we’re still working with them today.

1980

Dedicated Services

TCI expands its business services by offering dedicated transport, and signs outsourcing accounts with clients including Chevron, Castaic Brick Company, and C&H Crockett.

1985

Moving On Up (to Downtown)

Corporate offices expand and move to Vernon, California, south of Downtown Los Angeles.

1986

Now Offering Used Trucks

TCI launches a used truck sales business. Offering a wide variety of well-maintained vehicles, TCI Truck Sales quickly grows into an important part of our business.

1989

Welcome to Commerce

TCI builds out its newest location in Commerce, California, centrally located within the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Shortly thereafter, Fresh Start and Robinsons May join us as new Dedicated accounts.

1995

Expansion to Fontana

TCI continues its Southern California expansion into Fontana, across the street from the Fontana speedway. Built from the ground up, it has a shop with 8 drive-through bays, a cross-dock, and multiple wash bays.

2000

Northward Bound

TCI extends its footprint in California by expanding north into the San Francisco Bay Area  and opening Stockton and Livermore locations.

2003

Phoenix Rises

To better serve our Arizona clients, our full-service Phoenix location is built. More recently, TCI has become Arizona’s only authorized Kalmar Ottawa Dealer.

2005

Las Vegas

TCI opens its first Nevada location in North Las Vegas, planting our roots in the largest city in the Mojave Desert.

2007

Lone Star Locations

Expanding into the Texas market, TCI opens three new locations, including San Antonio, Midland, and Houston.

2015

Henderson

Expanding our capabilities in Nevada, TCI establishes a second location in Henderson, about 16 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas.

2015

Northwest Territory

TCI opens its Tacoma location in Puyallup, Washington, dedicated to servicing a wide variety of Northwestern companies.

2019

Going Green

TCI’s efforts to promote more sustainable practices lead to the creation and implementation of our environmental division. TCI Environmental become a central focus of the company’s future growth strategy.

2020

Coast to Coast

TCI’s expansion reaches the East Coast with multiple openings stretching from Nevada to Georgia. New locations include Las Vegas, Savannah, and Shreveport Louisiana.

2021

CDS Merger

TCI Dedicated Transportation Companies (TCI) and Command Delivery Systems, Inc. (CDS) merged to unite their transportation businesses.
