As we look forward to the new year ahead, we’re reflecting on 2024: a year full of exciting milestones, impactful accomplishments, and meaningful growth at TCI Transportation. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together—our employees, customers, and partners—and are excited to share some of the highlights that defined our year.
2024 wasn’t just another year for us; it was one where we doubled down on our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and providing the best possible service to our customers. Here’s a look back at what made last year so memorable:
Growing Our Team and Strengthening Leadership
Last year, we surpassed 1,500 employees, a milestone that underscores our growth and commitment to creating opportunities across the transportation industry. We also expanded our Manager Trainee Program to include Service Manager Trainees. Our Manager Trainee Program offers hands-on learning, mentorship from industry professionals, and a clear path to leadership roles. With competitive pay, full-time employment upon graduation, and nationwide opportunities, this expanding program equips future leaders with the tools to thrive in the transportation industry.
Industry Recognition and Awards
We were humbled to receive some incredible honors last year, including being named a Top Green Fleet for our sustainability initiatives and making the Top 100 For-Hire Carriers, Top 100 Logistics Companies, and FleetOwner 500 For-Hire Fleets lists.
One of our own, Sylvia Mahfouz, was recognized as a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation by Women in Trucking, reflecting her outstanding contributions to the industry and TCI. We also received the NationaLease 2024 Leadership Circle Award, highlighting our excellence in leasing and rental operations.
Giving Back To The Community
At TCI, we’re more than trucks on the road—we’re deeply embedded in our communities. Through our TCI CARES benevolence program, we support the causes that matter most to our team. In 2024, we donated over $120,000 and volunteered over 300 hours to 54 incredible organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities of SoCal, Susan G. Komen, Bithiah’s Family Services, and so many more.
This year, the Gerry Flynn Scholarship also saw record participation with 22 submissions. Established to honor our founder’s commitment to education, the scholarship helps our employees and their families achieve their academic goals. Annually, five scholarships of $5,000 each are awarded to the top applicants, furthering our dedication to supporting the growth and success of our TCI Family.
Together, we’re making a difference, and we look forward to building on this momentum to make an even greater impact in 2025.
Introducing the Level Up Program
One of the most exciting launches last year was our Level Up Program for Diesel Technicians. This initiative empowers our team to take their careers to the next level by planning their career paths, identifying growth areas, and pursuing training and certifications. It’s all about supporting our people as they grow and succeed within TCI.
Safety First, Always
At TCI, safety is the foundation of everything we do as we strive to build and maintain a world-class safety culture. We continually set ambitious safety goals and work diligently to exceed them, ensuring our operations consistently meet and surpass industry standards.
Last year, we accomplished our safety improvement goals through proactive initiatives and ongoing improvements. With our steadfast commitment to safety, we are creating a safer environment for our team, our customers, and the communities we serve.
Customer-Centric Innovations
Our customers are at the center of everything we do. That’s why we developed a Fleet Ops customer dashboard, set to roll out in 2025, to enhance transparency and operational insights. We also launched 14 new dedicated startups and executed five expansions, tailoring solutions to meet evolving customer needs.
Developing Our People
We’re proud to support our team’s growth and professional development. Last year, we sent seven team members to the Women in Trucking Accelerate! Conference in Dallas, where they gained insights into AI, marketing, recruiting strategies, and building an intentional company culture. This experience not only inspired them but also brought back fresh ideas to enhance their departments at TCI.
Sustainability in Action
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us—it’s integral to our mission. In 2024, we continued leading the charge with zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) leasing, and leased 15 yard tractors, 8 transit vans, and a refrigerated truck from our fleet. We also secured multiple state and federal vouchers to make sustainable transportation more accessible to our customers.
Expanding Our Market Presence
Last year, we signed 129 new accounts across dedicated, lease, rental, and brokerage divisions. These new partnerships are a testament to the trust our customers place in us and our ability to deliver exceptional service.
