For Jeff Becerra, who joined TCI in 2018, that support played a transformative role in his journey—from entry-level porter to full-time recruiter, equipped with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management and a vision for continued growth.
From Entry-Level to Emerging Leader
Jeff started at our San Bernardino location as a porter and rental agent, where he quickly developed a strong understanding of day-to-day operations and the importance of customer service. He later transitioned into a service writer role in Fontana, a move that helped him sharpen his communication and organizational skills—setting the foundation for what was to come.
Even before he joined TCI, Jeff had an interest in HR—he’s always had a passion for working with people and helping them reach their full potential. Once he gained more stability and flexibility in his new role, he realized he was in a position to take the leap and pursue his long-time goal of earning a degree. Managing full-time work and school wasn’t easy—there were long days and late nights—but he knew it would be worth it in the end.
“My greatest source of motivation came from watching my friends and family graduate and thrive in their chosen careers. Seeing their pride and hearing their stories of personal achievement inspired me to stay focused. I wanted that same sense of accomplishment and personal growth.”
Removing Barriers, Creating Focus
As Jeff approached his final year of school, finances continued to create pressure in his life. Until then, he had paid out of pocket for his education. That’s when the Gerry Flynn Scholarship made a meaningful difference. With tuition covered for his last three semesters, Jeff was able to shift his focus fully to completing his coursework and capstone projects without the added stress of how to pay for it.
The financial relief was significant—but the vote of confidence meant even more.

Turning Education Into Impact
Recently, Jeff transitioned into his current role as a Driver Recruiter at our Walnut location. He credits his education with preparing him to succeed in a fast-paced environment. The degree not only helped him develop technical skills like time management and critical thinking but also gave him the confidence to take ownership of recruiting efforts—from sourcing candidates to placing the right drivers in the right roles.
What he enjoys most? Being part of a team that encourages professional development and welcomes challenges that push him beyond his comfort zone.
