On-Site Infrastructure Assessment
TCI has established relationships with some of the most reputable electric vehicle infrastructure contractors in the industry. We work diligently with each of these proven providers, hand-in-hand, to streamline your project and provide step-by-step support from start to finish.
Ongoing Support & Training
Our company is committed to leading the way to a greener future in trucking. As such we are continually investing in the future with a comprehensive electrification plan that includes:
- Investing in our own charging infrastructure at a number of our facilities.
- Added internal grant support to help customers navigate the various national funding programs.
- Working with EV manufacturers to develop critical curriculum and training programs that will support the growing zero emissions service needs of the future.
The Benefits of EV
The trucking industry keeps the economy running, but it also produces about 37% of all emissions on highways in the United States. While transportation is a big contributor to carbon emissions, carriers and truck manufacturers are stepping up and paving the way toward a greener future. Zero-emissions vehicles are good for our environment, but some of the biggest benefits will affect your company directly:
- Reduce operational costs by up to 70% when considering fuel and maintenance.
- Reduce tailpipe emissions by 100%.
- Significantly reduce noise emissions.
- Promote sustainable transportation practices.
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
TCI has begun the extensive undertaking of incorporating environmental social governance into our organization. We aim to be a leader in this space and are taking the necessary steps to fully implement this plan in the coming years. TCI’s plan will heavily incorporate electric vehicles into our growing fleet across the country, inclusive hiring practices, and many other initiatives over time. The WAIRE Program
The WAIRE program is complicated, and it can be a challenge to understand the requirements that apply to you. Our in-house EV Acquisition team has the expertise to help you navigate these complexities. Plus, we’re able to provide the trucks and charging stations you need to earn WAIRE points for full compliance.
What Is the WAIRE Program?
The Warehouse Actions and Investments to Reduce Emissions (WAIRE) Program (also known as Rule 2305) aims to reduce nitrogen oxide and diesel emissions associated with warehouses, and help meet federal standards to improve public health, especially in communities located near warehouses in the South Coast AQMD. An overview of the program is summarized in a fact sheet provided by the South Coast AQMD.
How Does the WAIRE Program Work?
The WAIRE Program is a menu-based point system that requires warehouse operators to earn WAIRE Points by completing actions off the WAIRE Menu, by implementing an approved Custom WAIRE Plan, or by paying a mitigation fee every year. Warehouse owners are required to submit a one-time informational report on their buildings, and warehouse operators will also be required to submit annual reports detailing facility operations and proving compliance through the WAIRE Program Online Portal. For additional information, the South Coast AQMD has provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the program.
Who Must Comply with the WAIRE Program?
Owners and operators of warehouses in the South Coast AQMD that have 100,000 square feet or more of indoor floor space in a single building must comply with the new regulations, also known as Rule 2305. Warehouse operators may be exempt from parts of the rule if they operate <50,000 square feet for warehousing activities, if the number of points required is <10; or if the WAIRE menu action chosen underperforms due to circumstances beyond the operator’s control, such as a manufacturer defect. To assist with implementation, the South Coast AQMD has provided a WAIRE Implementation Guide.
How to Calculate Your Potential Fees
You can avoid WAIRE penalties by using the TCIzero WAIRE Calculator
Knowing how many zero emissions vehicle acquisitions and charging station installations are needed, along with operational usage is as easy as 1…2…3 when you use our TCIzero WAIRE calculator to help. Based on your business operations, this tool is a simple way to help get a quick and clear estimate of what type of EV programs you’ll need to build into your operations in order to be in compliance with Rule 2305.
Paying Mitigation Fees
Warehouse operators may earn WAIRE Points by paying a mitigation fee of $1,000 per WAIRE Point. In other words, warehouse operators can pay to pollute. Please note that in addition to the $1,000 per WAIRE point, a 6.25% processing fee will be added to the transaction.
Allow Us to Help You Navigate the Complicated Waters of WAIRE.
Most warehouses operating in California’s South Coast AQMD area will have to incorporate changes into their operations, including purchasing EV vehicles, installing charging stations, or implementing onsite solar panels. But while this can be a complicated process, you don’t have to handle it alone. Our team of Zero Emissions experts can help you understand the implications for your warehouse and guide you toward implementing and executing the actions needed for full compliance.
We’re at the Forefront of the Green Movement
Over the next few decades, green technology will transform the trucking industry into a climate-centric industry that remains as effective in the supply chain as it is today without producing as much greenhouse gas emissions in the process. At, TCI we’re leading the way with our Go Green initiatives. We’ve ordered 50 Tesla electric semi-trucks, added GreenPower EV vehicles to our fleet, and continue to invest heavily in lowering our carbon footprint, including the installation of Solar PV systems at our locations.
